Mary Rainey

FARMINGTON – Mary Bernice “Bean” Rainey of Farmington passed away September 25, 2004, at the Parkland Hospital at the age of 84 years. She was born on September 24, 1920, at Cora, IL, the daughter of the late Conness E. and Cora (Carruthers) Pike.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Delbert “Doc” Rainey, and by a nephew, James Russell Hurd.

She was a member of the Crossroads First Church of God. Before her retirement, she had worked as a restauranteur and later as an orphanage caregiver for the Mooseheart Lodge. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by a sister, Kathlene Hurd of Belvidere, IL, by a niece, Carla (Mrs. Larry) Erickson of Belvidere, and by two great-nieces, Colleen (Mrs. John) Link and their son Brandon of Loves Park, IL, and Christa (Mrs. Justin) Erp of Burnsville, MN. Also surviving are dear friends Eddie and Barbara Stacy, Sharon and Mike Mell, Carol and Cecil Bollinger, and Francis Thomure.

Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel today from 6 until 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Cozean Chapel, with the Rev. Herb Conley officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery at Chester, IL.
