Michael D. Whelen

Snohomish, Wash. – Mike Whelen, 50 of Snohomish, Washington, passed away September 18 at his home after a courage battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Candice and two children of the home, Megan and Cole, his mother, Marcia Whelen of Rolla, Mo. and one sister, Linda Giger of Rolla, Mo.; his father and brother preceded him in death.

Mike was born in Bonne Terre, Mo., October 4, 1953 and graduated from Central High School in Flat River, Mo., 1971. He moved to Washington in 1975.

Mike truly loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, camping and skiing. He enjoyed watching his children play sports and was an Umpire for the Snohomish Little League.

Mike worked in construction for most of his life and had his own company, Wheel Construction for 17 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held, September 25 at the First Presbyterian Church in Snohomish at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers a fund has been set-up for his children, “The Whelen Children’s Education Fund” at Washington Mutual Bank in Snohomish, Wa, 98290.
