Bartley Nelson

FARMINGTON — Bartley Aaron Nelson, USN Retired, of Farmington passed away on October 14, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, at the age of 83 years. He was born on September 13, 1921, in Flat River, the son of the late James and Laura (Hamor) Nelson.

Mr. Nelson served his country proudly for twenty-five years in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He also served with the Missouri Air National Guard at the Lambert Airfield for eighteen years. He was an active member with the Farmington VFW Post 5896 for over fifty years. Mr. Nelson in his lifetime had visited all 50 states and 10 foreign countries.

Beloved husband of Arlene Jean (McDaniel) Nelson for 58 years, loving father of George and Robert of the State of Texas, Bartlene Martin of Atlanta, GA, and Karen Stefl of St. Louis, grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of seventeen.

He has been a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle to many and will be missed by all. He will be joined in heaven by his parents, his brothers and sisters and his best friend George Ferrell.

Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2004. AVFW Service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Sunday at 10 a.m. A funeral service will be held at the Cozean Chapel at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will be at St. Francois Memorial Park.
