Goldie Koen
FARMINGTON – Goldie Viola Koen of Farmington passed away on November 3, 2004, at Presbyterian Manor, at the age of 72 years. She was born on April 6, 1932, the daughter of the late Felix and Laura Mae (Sikes) Pogue. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Pogue and Eugene Pogue and sister, Rosabel (Mrs. Hugh) Kitchen.
Mrs. Koen worked for 25 years as a switchboard operator for Farmington Community Hospital. She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Farmington. Goldie was a Good Samaritan at home and at her church, a faithful servant.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jim Koen, son, Steve Koen and wife Jeannine of Farmington, two daughters, Dana Ann Richards and husband Dave, and Laura Margaret Apple and husband Michael, all of Marquette, Mich., four sisters, Verna (Mrs. Eugene) Whiteaker of Festus, Margie (Mrs. Dick) Lewis of Sanford, FL, Thelma (Mrs. Jack) Aslinger of Farmington and Nina (Mrs.Bob) Sigman of Ormond Beach, Fla., and three sisters-in-law, Gladys (Mrs. Buck) Meyers of Fredericktown, Kitty Celeskey of Celebration, Fla. and Larna Pogue of the Hot Springs, Ark., grandchildren: Angela(Miguel) Gallegos of Elgin, Ill., Amy Diane Richards of Edinburgh, Scotland, Stephanie (Mike) Rigdon and Brian (Laveda) Koen, all of Farmington, Andrew (Amy Joy) Richards, Becca Richards, Gabriel and Isaac Apple, all of Marquette, Mich., great-grandchildren: Alexzandra and David Richards of Marquette, Mich., Landon and Madison Rigdon and Dawson Koen, all of Farmington. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and faithful friend, Goldie is also survived by many other relatives and endless devoted friends.
Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2004.
Visitation will resume on Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. William Miller officiating.
Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
