Alvin L. Gowen

BONNE TERRE – Alvin L. Gowen of Bonne Terre passed away Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Des Peres Hospital, St. Louis, at the age of 77 years. He was born September 19, 1927 in Lesterville to the late Lee and Effie Gowen (nee Kennedy). Alvin is also preceded in death by his daughter, Patti Martin, and one brother, Raymond Gowen.

Mr. Gowen is survived by his loving wife, Linda Gowen (nee Douglas) of Bonne Terre, three dear sons: Ronald (wife, Jenny) Gowen of Fredericktown; Dennis (wife, Kay) Gowen of Festus, and Gerald Lee (wife, Cynthia) Gowen of Bloomsdale, twelve Grandchildren; five Great-grandchildren; four sisters: Hazel (husband, Jerry) McKenzie of Mississippi; Ruby Watson, Margie Reynolds, and Joyce Thompson, all of De Soto, and three brothers: Ernest “E. A.” (wife, Beulah) Gowen of Park Hills, Rev. Glenn (wife, Shirley) Gowen of Valle Mines, and Willard (wife, Janet) Gowen of De Soto. Alvin is also survived by Nieces; Nephews; Cousins, and dear friends.

Family received friends from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2005 at the Shearin-Sparks Funeral Home 11 S. Long St. and Hwy. 47, Bonne Terre. Funeral Service was conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2005 at the Shearin-Sparks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Gowen officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, De Soto.
