Board of Trustee Meeting

The Madison Medical Center Board of Trustees met at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2005, for their regular monthly meeting. The following board members were present: Melba Fadler, Arthur Myers, Mike Baker, Bob Schwent and Darrell Whitworth. MMC staff present: Rodney Gross, Administrator; Lisa Twidwell, CFO; Freida Allen, Nursing Home DON; Corinna DeFrancesco, Acute Care DON; and Maureen Medley, Administrative Secretary. Visitors: Michael and Sherry Santschi.

The Acute Care report showed that 428 patients were seen in the E.R. during December. There were 64 surgery cases, 123 EMS runs, 10 air transports from the hospital and none from the scene. The MMC Home Health Agency made 1,083 visits during December 2004.

Freida Allen, Nursing Home DON, reported that both the Christmas party on December 12 and the New Year’s Eve party on December 31 were well attended and enjoyed by the residents. A pie auction will be held on January 18, and a Valentine’s basket will be raffled off on February 14 to earn money for the Activity Department. Ten CNA students are now completing their clinicals and will be ready to take the state exam on January 27.

The Board reviewed and approved the annual periodic evaluation of the facility, as required by the Critical Access Hospital program.

Lisa Twidwell, CFO, reported that it will now be the end of February before the new PACS radiology system is installed. It was initially hoped that the new system would be in place by the end of January, but due to some delays in the renovations of the department, the date has been pushed back.

MMC’s annual audit report was presented by Alan Larson and Dan Frein of Larson Allen, the hospital’s new auditing firm, which was hired early last year to replace the firm of Baird, Kurtz and Dobson.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at 9:00 a.m. in the Dr. Slaughter Memorial Building.
