Lady Cats pick up 18th win on Friday

FREDERICKTOWN – The Fredericktown Lady Cats (18-2) kept their great season rolling Friday night with a 63-44 win over the De Soto Lady Dragons. The Lady Dragons hung tough for a quarter, but Fredericktown was able to shake De Soto’s shadow from the second quarter to the end of the game.

“We changed our defense a little bit in the second quarter and it made all the difference in the world for us,” said Fredericktown coach Lonny Sheldon.

Trailing only by one point, 19-18, De Soto was virtually shut down by Fredericktown’s defense, scoring only 15 points over the next two quarters while the Lady Cats offense added 35 points to their own score. Kylie Boswell led all scorers with 27 points.

Fredericktown will play next at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Mineral Area College in the conference tournament quarterfinals against the winner of Saturday’s West County/ Ste. Genevieve game.
