Nina Simmons

BONNE TERRE – Nina M. Simmons, 90, of Bonne Terre died February 27, 2005 at Prebysterian manor. She was born January 14, 1915 in Marquand.

She was a member of the Centenary Methodist Church in Bonne Terre since 1938. She was charter member of the Ethel Lindquist Circle of the United Memodist Women’s Society. She was a teacher in Missouri Public Schools for 38 years. Mrs Simmons was a dedicated educator and leader in preparing young people for living and serving as responsible and productive citzens. She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State Teachers Colege (now Southeast Missouri University, from which she also received a Masters Degree.) Her useful, caring and loving personality will live on in the lives and memories of family, friends and hundreds of people that benefited from her dedicated service.

Preceded in death by her parents, Milerson and Emma (Mathews) Shrum; four sisters.

Survived by her husband of 63 years, Clark Simmons; two brothers: Waren (Mary Ann) Shrum of Plainfield, Indiana; Grant (Alma) Shrum of Orlando, Florida. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends. Interment will be at Marvin Chapel Cemetery at a later date.
