Several area teams busy in Tuesday’s baseball action

BISMARCK – Tuesday’s small-school conference contest between the Arcadia Valley Tigers and the Bismarck Indians proved to be a very exciting one. Arcadia Valley led 3-2 after the fifth inning. Bismarck came back in the bottom of the seventh inning with four consecutive hits. Mike Franklin had the game-winning hit for the Indians as Bismarck triumphed over the Tigers by the score of 4-3.

Ralph Scherffius recorded the win for the Indians, striking out seven batters in going the distance.

Bismarck, now 2-0, will host Valle for another conference game on Thursday. Arcadia Valley (0-2) will host conference for West County the same day.

Valle 15, Kingston 0

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Valle Warriors came out of the gates fast and furious against the Kingston Cougars. Valle scored 13 runs in the first inning and used that momentum throughout the game. The Warriors walked away with a 15-0 win over Kingston.

Valle used four pitchers to pull off the one-hitter with Nathan Grass getting the win.

Valle, now 1-0, will host Oak Ridge today. The Cougars (0-2) will host Valley of Caledonia for another conference game on Thursday.

CALEDONIA – The West County Bulldogs had a solid afternoon of baseball against the Valley Vikings on Tuesday. West County scored eight runs in the first two innings and dominated the rest of the way. The Bulldogs won by the score of 16-0.

West County, now 1-1, will travel to Arcadia Valley on Thursday. The Vikings (0-1) will travel to Kingston the same day.

Central 9, Ste. Genevieve 3

PARK HILLS – The Ste. Genevieve Dragons couldn’t stop the Central Rebels on Tuesday. The Rebels led 7-1 after the fifth inning which included a two-run homer by Central’s Jimmy Thompson in the fifth inning. Ste. Genevieve scored a couple more runs in the sixth inning, but they couldn’t gain any more ground. The Rebels won by the score of 9-3.

Central (4-0) will try to stay undefeated when they host North County on Thursday. The Dragons (0-1) will travel to Perryville today.
