North County wins first two in Kentucky

MCCRACKIN COUNTY, KY – The North County Raiders pulled off two wins on Friday in the McCrackin County Wooden Bat Tournament. The Raiders faced some stiff competition, but came up with excellent pitching from pitchers who had not started a varsity game before for a 4-2 win over Lone Oak, Ky. and a 7-2 win over Clarksville, Tn.

In the first game, Kyle Hawkins took the mound and gave up only two hits for the win. Ryan Blankenship got the save. Dan Harris provided much of the offense with a triple and a single to drive in two of the four runs.

In game two, Josh Jaco, who had pitched two-thirds of an inning in game one, threw all seven innings for the win. North County jumped to the lead early and gave Jaco a cushion to work with all seven innings. Clarksville was 12-1 before their game with the Raiders.

“We had five successful sacrifices over the two games,” said North County coach Kyle Yount. “We executed really well on offense and defense, and you can’t expect much more than that.”

The Raiders, 7-1, play two more games today in the tournament.
