Central swears in new board members

PARK HILLS – Dennis Norris, Danny Bates and Ken Douglas were each sworn in as re-elected board members at Monday’s Central School Board meeting. Norris, Bates and Douglas were each re-elected to the school board in the April 5 election.

Following the swearing in ceremony, Norris was elected president of the school board, Bates was elected vice-president of the board, Jim Sherrill was elected secretary and Douglas was elected treasurer of the board.

The board revised the district’s policy relative to unused sick leave.

“Basically faculty members who plan to retire who want to be reimbursed for their accrued sick days will have to let the district know by March 15,” said Central Assistant Superintendent Dr. Desi Mayberry.

In other matters the board approved participation in the MAAA Insurance Consortium.

Mayberry said the consortium currently has preliminary rates for health insurance, but the final rates will depend on how many schools participate in the consortium.

The board also approved the application for a $75,000 elementary Comprehensive School Reform Grant. The board also opened bids for the sale of a utility truck. The board approved a bid worth $60 for the sale of the truck.
