Bismarck swears in new board members

BISMARCK – Aldermen Noah Meade Jr. and Gary L. Tate were sworn in for their new terms on the board during Thursday’s monthly meeting.

Both were elected to the board during the April 5 election. Meade ran against Steven Creek and Clarence King in his bid for re-election while Tate ran unopposed.

In other matters the board approved a resolution to support the application for the Community Development Block Grant. The city applied for the same grant during 2004, but was turned down. The grant is worth approximately $500,000. City officials agreed to make revisions to the application from 2004 in hopes of getting approved for the grant in 2005.

The board reviewed the delinquent tax list for informational purposes and set the spring clean-up dates for May 16-19. The board also approved a business license for R. Jones.

Bob Grisham was scheduled to attend Thursday’s meeting to discuss improvements to a road, but did not attend the meeting.
