North County hires two new principals

The North County School District will have two new principals next year.

Superintendent Dr. Terry Gibbons said during execution session of the school board meeting Thursday night, the Board of Education hired Brad Mora, who is currently the assistant principal at the middle school, to be the principal of the intermediate school.

Carol Weems, who has been the principal of the intermediate school, is retiring after seven years in that position. She has been in education 20 years – nine years as an administrator.

Cheryl Bauman, who is currently the assistant principal at Windsor, was hired as the new principal of Bonne Terre Elementary.

Ann Farrell is retiring after being the principal of the school for the past six years. She has been in education 30 years – 15 years as an administrator.

Daniel Thompson was also hired to be the new director of special education. He is currently the special education process coordinator for Farmington School District.

Thompson is replacing Bobbi Meinershagen, who is resigning at the end of the year.

Gibbons said he feels very good about the administrators they have hired. He said they wanted candidates with experience and they were able to attract several good candidates.

He said the district put together committees consisting of parents, administrators, board members, and teachers to interview and select each administrator.
