Baseball Cats top Dragons twice

April 8 and 9, the Blackcats Baseball Team hosted a Wooden Bat Tournament, sponsored by Ameritime, at Fraser Field.

On Friday (April 8), the Cats lost, 3-0, to Greenville. Fredericktown managed just two singles and a double off of Bears starter Allen, while Logan Stevens was the tough-luck loser, allowing eight hits and two earned runs over seven innings. He walked four and struck out seven.

Saturday morning, the Cats fell to Clearwater, 4-2. The Cats scored both runs in the third inning, as Sonny Cooper and Eli Skaggs got two-out singles. Calvin Gipson singled both of them home.

D.J. Hinkle gave up three earned runs on eight hits over seven innings.

Later Saturday, the Cats topped Ste. Genevieve, 11-1, as Dustin Bess pitched a 3-hit gem.

Taylor Fall homered and drove in two runs. Hinkle was 3-for-4, and Gipson, Stevens, and Pruett had two hits each.

Friday, April 15, the Cats played a doubleheader against MAAA foes, Farmington and Ste. Genevieve, here.

The Cats fell to Farmington, 7-0, as Hinkle had two of the team’s six hits. Skaggs got saddled with the loss.

In the other game, the Cats topped Ste. Genevieve, 8-2.

Hinkle got the victory, allowing one earned run on seven hits. He walked three and fanned eight.

Hinkle was also 2-4 at the plate with a home run. Tinnin homered in the Cats six-run first inning
