GFWC Friday Club Meets

GFWC Friday Club met at the Methodist Church on April 16, 2005, with the following members present: Linda Hogan, JoAnn Banks, Dorothy Huskey, Dorothy Sutton, Phyllis Coulson, Betty Schmale, Karen Fulton, Virginia Kinder, Nancy Basden, Kitten Ivy, Margaret Miller, Ilerea Hamilton, and Frances Branum and went to Marble Hill for lunch at Jeri’s Restaurant. It was delicious and the homemade strawberry pie was best of all. After lunch, we took a tour of Marble Hill Museum. The museum is in the Art and Science Building of the former “Will Mayfield College.” We learned about dinosaurs in Missouri. In 1942 the Chronister family were digging a well and found bones from the tail of a dinosaur. They continued to dig and found bones of duck-billed dinosaurs, teeth from a tyrannosaur, and the remains of crocodiles, fish, and turtles.

We learned about fossils from Missouri and the world, Native American artifacts, local Civil War history, and history of Will Mayfield College. Our tour guide was fantastic. The museum is open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

A discussion of the Prince and Princess Pageant. All is going well. The pageant is to be held on Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the Middle School gym. See you there.

Remember the covered dish luncheon on May 20, 2005, at Beverly Sikes home.
