Fredericktown FFA Members Attend State Convention

Fifty members of the Fredericktown FFA chapter attended the 77th Missouri State FFA Convention in Columbia, Missouri. State qualifying teams were: Farm Management, Meats, Floriculture, Horse Evaluation, Soils, Nursery Landscaping, Agronomy, Poultry, Ag. Sales, Forestry, Ag. Mechanics, Dairy Foods, Floriculture, Dairy Cattle and Parliamentary Procedure.

Proficiency Award Area Winners were: Ag. Communications — Ashley Amelunke, Ag. Mechanical Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship — Andy Kirkpatrick, Ag. Mechanical Repair and Maintenance Placement — Cody Bittle, Ag. Processing Entrepreneurship — Steven Brewen, Ag. Sales — Jenny Hovis, Beef Production — Thad Myers, Beef Production Placement — Josh Allgier, Diversified Livestock Placement — Adam Allgier, Equine Science — Cara Royer, Floriculture — Kelli Weyand, Food Science and Technology — Sarah Burlison, Forage Production- Amanda Huffman, Forest Management Products — Patrick Tilk, Home and/or Community Development — Caitlin Gifford, Specialty Animal Production Entrepreneurship — Tracy Sample, Turf Grass Management Entrepreneurship — Jake Pruett, and Turf Grass Management Placement — Julie Rhodes. Patrick Tilk won 1st place and will advance to nationals, and Thad Myers won 2nd place in his proficiency award.

State FFA Degree recipients were Adam Allgier, Josh Allgier, Steven Brewen, Katie Cox, Mary Krannig Cox, Tammy Krannig, Thad Myers, and Patrick Tilk. State qualifying books were: Laura Mooney’s Beginning Ownership Record book; Eli Skaggs’ Beginning Placement Record book; Tracy Samples’s Secretary’s Book and Completed Ownership Record book; and Arial Wright and Julie Rhodes’ Secretary’s Book and Completed Ownership Record book; and Arial Wright and Julie Rhodes’ Reporter’s Scrapbook. Caitlin Gifford made it to state in Prepared Public Speaking and Abby Boyd for Division II Public Speaking. Abby received 2nd place in state, and Josh Provow received a Group One rating in the Farm Management contest. The students participated in career development events, attended leadership workshops, and participated in the career show.
