Flames overheat Steamers in Cal Ripken contest

CALEDONIA – A.P. Lewandowski pitched three solid innings for the Fredericktown Flames as he struck out five batters and gave up only one hit in the Flames’ 13-1 victory over the Valley Steamers on Friday.

Lewandowski was also the first one to cross the plate in the first inning. Lewandowski drew a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. A pick-off throw to third base went wild as the Flames quickly took the lead.

With two runners on base for Fredericktown in the same inning, Brady Brewer crushed a two-RBI triple for a 3-0 advantage.

The bases were packed in the third inning for the Flames when a drawn walk forced a run to cross the plate. A single from Seth Clark and a ground ball from Kyle Hartrup added a couple more tallies for Fredericktown.

The Steamers had a runner on second base in the bottom of the third inning when Travis Draper drilled a double to prevent a hitless and scoreless match-up.

A single from Fredericktown’s Rusty Bumgardaner in the fourth inning was quickly followed with a powerful two-run home run over the center-field fence by Rusty Allgier. The Flames had men on first and second base when Jordan Royer demolished a triple for a 10-1 lead.

In the top of the fifth inning, Caleb Matthews reached first base on a single. Brian Little blasted a RBI-triple to right field. Allgier knocked in Little with double and Brewer later drove in Allgier with a single for the final run of the game.

The Flames (5-3) will host the Park Hills Dodgers on Monday. The Steamers (5-5) will be home against the Bismarck Twins on Tuesday.

Padres 7, Royals 2

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Padres improve their impressive record to 9-2 with a 7-2 win over the Park Hills Royals. Logan Bradley was the winning pitcher as he threw for two innings, struck out four, and gave up no hits.

Levi Sutton, Dale Mosier, and Teren Burns all had a base hit for the Royals. Zach Hibbits had a successful night as he went 3-3 with a double for the Padres. Philip Kreitler was 2-3 with a triple and William Hamlin also drilled a triple.

The Padres will host the Fredericktown Flames on Wednesday. The Royals (3-6) be home against the Desloge Yankees on Tuesday.

Yankees 15, Angels 2

DOE RUN – The Desloge Yankees allowed the Farmington Angels only four hits on Friday’s Cal Ripken American Division match-up. The Yankees easily triumphed 15-2.

Colton Wooldridge and Jimmy Moore both had a single for the Angels. Zach Lyles crushed a double and Todd Brackett drilled a home run for Farmington. Winning pitcher Justin Ruby matched Brackett’s feat with a home run of his own. Joey Brockland went 2-2 and Derek Mitchell ended the evening at 2-3 with a triple.

The Yankees (7-4) will host the Bonne Terre Blues on Monday. The Angels (2-7) will travel to the Arcadia Valley Cougars the same day.

BANTAM LEAGUE

Gators 20, Bandits 12

FREDERICKTOWN – A lot of runs were scored on Friday’s game between the Park Hills Gators and the Fredericktown Bandits. Although most of the runs were scored by drawn walks, the Gators came out on top 20-12.

Trey Mooney was 2-3 and Dalton Alvis came through with a double for the Bandits. Cody Williams made a home run for the Gators and Tristan Pyatt and Brett Taylor both had a bases-loaded double. Austin Beavers ended the day at 2-2 and Brennan White was 2-3 at the plate.

The Gators (2-6) will host the Park Hills Wolves on Tuesday. The Bandits (2-5) will visit the Farmington Rattlers on Monday.

Wolves 3, Stars 2

PARK HILLS – The Wolves pulled off a 3-2 win over the Bismarck Stars on Friday in a make-up game of Wednesday’s rain-out. The Wolves scored the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Anthony Quinton was the winning pitcher, entering the game in relief in the fifth inning after Jacob Marshall pitched the first four innings with 12 strike-outs.

Dakota Duncan, Marshall, Michael Buesking, and Marlo Westerfield all had singles for the Wolves and Joseph Mitchell hit a triple. Clayton Counts, Shane Philips, Jeff Cover and Jordan Martin all had one single for the Stars.

The Wolves, 3-5, will play the Park Hills Gators on Tuesday, and the Stars, also 3-5, will play at home on Monday against the Park Hills Rockets.

Raiders 8, Yellow Jackets 2

DESLOGE – The Desloge Raiders took advantage of the free base to post an 8-2 win over the Potosi Yellow Jackets on Friday. The Raiders had only two hits on the night, one each by Trent Cassidy and Dyllon Parmley.

Seth Tiefenauer was the winning pitcher and allowed only three hits to the Yellow Jackets, a single by Chase Blumenberg, a triple to Dylan Eckhoff and a fourth-inning home run by Dylan Coleman. Tiefenauer struck out 11 batters.

Brendan McCoy and Luke Jacobsen combined for 10 strike-outs of the Raiders’ batters.

The Raiders, 5-2, will visit the Leadwood Sharks on Monday for their next game. The Yellow Jackets, 6-2, will host the Bonne Terre Bombers on Monday.

Rockets 9, Mustangs 0

PARK HILLS – The Park Hills Rockets kept their undefeated season alive as they shut out the Farmington Mustangs, 9-0. Lane Huff was the winning pitcher for the Rockets.

Pierce Daniels hit one double and Lucas Manion, Nate Rawlins, and Drew Harlow had two singles each for the Rockets.

The Rockets are now 8-0 and will play Monday at the Bismarck Stars. The Mustangs, 4-4, will host the Leadwood Titans on Monday.
