Park Hills man faces charges in Boone County

A Park Hills man is facing charges in Boone County for allegedly trying to entice a 13-year-old girl to have sex with him.

Boone County Sheriff’s Department Detective Andy Anderson said Danny Eugene Hartley, 49, was arrested March 31.

Hartley has since been charged with one felony county of attempting to entice a child and two misdemeanor counts of attempting to promote obscenity.

Anderson said he was conducting an undercover investigation into the enticement of children over the Internet. He said Hartley made numerous contacts with a person he believed was a 13-year-old girl.

Anderson said Hartley sent pornographic images, as well as live camshots of himself to the “girl.”

Anderson said Hartley then attempted to entice the child to meet him for the purpose of sexual contact. He said Hartley arranged to meet the “girl” but it never worked out.

The detective said the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued a warrant after reviewing the case. Hartley was interviewed and arrested in Jefferson County.

Anderson said police obtained search warrants to search three of his hearing aid business – one in Franklin County and two in Jefferson County. He said they are still looking over the information and analyzing the computers.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 1 at the Boone County Courthouse before Judge Christine Carpenter. He is currently free on bond.
