Dodgers crank out 14 hits for Thursday win
PARK HILLS – The Park Hills Dodgers had a big day at the plate on Thursday against the Bonne Terre Blues. The Dodgers connected for 14 hits in their 10-3 triumph over the Blues.
Bonne Terre struck in the top of the first inning. Ryan Gibson had the first hit of the contest with a double. Dilyn Pipkin followed with a RBI single for a 1-0 lead.
Aaron Tyree led off the bottom of the first inning with a base hit. Tyree stole second and third base and Lukas Baker knocked in Tyree with a single. Riley Calvird and Garrett Manion followed with back-to-back singles to jam the bases. A pair of walks gave the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.
Tyree nailed his second base hit of the game in the second inning. Preston Harlow drilled the ball over every defender’s head for a two-run homer. Baker was walked and moved to third due to a wild pitch and a fielder’s choice play. Nicholas Daugherty scored Baker with a single for a 6-1 advantage.
Gibson had a two-out base hit in the top of the third inning. Pipkin followed with a single and Spencer Tiefenauer was walked. Gibson later crossed the plate to narrow the deficit.
Collin Manion was walked at the start of the third inning. Levi Ragsdale moved Manion to second base with a single. After a wild pitch advanced both base runners, Manion tried to score on another wild pitch. The play was close, but the catcher dropped the ball as Manion arrived safely. A ground ball by Baker knocked in Ragsdale for an 8-2 game.
Daugherty blasted a triple in the bottom of the fourth inning. Donnie Bess came through with a RBI single to extend their lead.
Luke Hicks crushed a triple for the Blues in the fifth inning. Nick Basler connected for a RBI single for their final run of the evening.
Two consecutive hits by Calvird and Manion were quickly followed with a RBI double by Daugherty to drive in the last tally of the contest.
The Dodgers (11-4) will be back in action today when they visit the Potosi Hornets. The Blues (10-7) will also play today when they travel to Caledonia to take on the Valley Steamers.
