James Hughes

FARMINGTON – James “Bud” Hughes of Farmington passed away on June 27, 2005, at Des Peres Hospital, at the age of 78 years, He was born on November 10, 1926, in Dwight, IL, the son of the late Thomas Hughes and Anna (Poole) Reynolds. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Marie (Taul) Hughes, a brother, Richard Hughes and two sisters, Ruth Burks and Tomaline Northcutt.

Mr. Hughes was a member of the St. Joseph Church of Farmington, the St. Vincent DePaul Society and Habitat for Humanity. He retired from DIG and worked as a carpenter in the Farmington area for many years. He proudly served his country in World War II in the U. S. Marine Corps. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post 416 and the VFW Post 5896.

He is survived by two sons, Larry (Carolyn) Hughes and Richard (Gayle) Hughes, all of Farmington, three daughters, Connie (Mrs. Randy) Childress of Farmington, Janice (Mrs.

Mike) Hickman of Bonne Terre, and Jackie (Mrs. David) Hull of Irondale, two brothers, T. J. (Nell) Hughes and Butch (Mary) Hughes, all of Brighton, IL, three sisters, Adeline Eveland of Alton, IL, Jean (Mrs. Ken) Roberts of St. Clair Shores, MI, and June Lewis of Brighton, IL, fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many cherished friends also survive.

Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel today from 5 to 9 p.m. A Holy Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. tonight. Visitation will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington. Burial will follow at the New Calvary Cemetery.
