Surprise party celebrates Mouser’s 65th Wedding Anniversary

Lloyd and Mildred Mouser of Fredericktown went to St. Louis the weekend of June 18th to attend what they thought would be a luncheon with their immediate family to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary. Instead, they were ushered into a room where over 40 of their extended Mouser and Wengler family all yelled, “Surprise!”

Instead of dining with just their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lloyd (Pete) and Mildred were soon visiting with siblings, nieces and nephews. Their children, Gerald Mouser, Park City, Utah, and Nancy Mouser Feeney, Bettendorf, Iowa, had secretly invited St. Louis area relatives to come join in the celebration, which was held at Patrick’s Restaurant in St. Louis.

Gerald and his wife Patty and their children, Bryan, Paula and Pamela were there along with Bryan’s wife Kristina and their three young sons, Brandon, Derrick and Ethan, from Draper, Utah. Paula Mouser resides in Burlington, Vermont, and Pamela recently moved to Lafayette, Indiana. Nancy was there with her husband Mark and their daughter Claire, who lives in Iowa City, Iowa. Their son Adam, who lives in Dalian, China, was unable to attend but called his grandparents later in the day to wish them his best and speak with his uncle and cousins.

Lloyd’s sister Faye Mouser Phillips of Crestwood, Mo, attended as well as Mildred’s sister Wilma Wengler Graves, who is a former Fredericktown resident who now lives in St. Louis. Dozens of the Mouser’s nieces and nephews were on hand to help Lloyd and Mildred celebrate 65 years of wedded bliss.

Grandson Bryan presented a 20-minute picture montage music video following the Mousers’ and their children and grandchildren down through the 65 years.

Lloyd and Mildred were truly surprised at the wonderful turnout and greatly enjoyed chatting with everyone.
