Man admits to stealing from Lowe’s

FARMINGTON – A rural Farmington man is in trouble after allegedly stealing two riding lawn mowers and a trailer from Lowe’s.

Detective Sgt. Jeff Crites of the Farmington Police Department said the first riding lawn mower was reported stolen April 1 after an employee discovered an empty crate.

Weeks later, a Farmington police officer driving through the lot at night discovered another empty crate.

After reviewing the surveillance camera, officers began looking for a gray vehicle pulling a trailer.

Crites said he spotted that vehicle on June 20 and ran a check on the vehicle. The vehicle was registered to a woman living in rural Farmington.

Officers discovered that the woman’s boyfriend had been arrested before for trying to steal two trees from Lowe’s.

Crites said the 27-year-old man confessed to stealing the two lawn mowers. He said they later found out that the trailer he used to haul the lawn mowers had also been stolen from Lowe’s.

Crites said the property has been returned to Lowe’s. The man’s name has not been released because charges have not yet been filed.
