Small fire out at Lee Mechanical put out quickly

LEADINGTON – A small fire caused little damage at the Lee Mechanical Fabrication Shop in Leadington.

Steve DePriest, the new Leadington fire chief, said a compressor caught on fire at the building site, located at 13 Donnelly. Firefighters were dispatched at 12:20 p.m. Thursday and remained on the scene until just after 1 p.m.

“There was minor damage,” he said. “It looks like they got it knocked down pretty quick.”

A company employee said an outside piece of equipment probably got overheated and caught on fire. He said they have a backup piece of equipment. They lost only about 10 minutes of production time.

He said no one was injured and there was no other damage.

Firefighters from Park Hills and Desloge assisted Leadington.
