William Ruble

BRASHEAR, MO – William Gale “Bill” Ruble, 77, of Brashear, MO, passed away Sunday July 10, 2005, at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, MO. He was the son of the late Flynn and Evelyn (Newton) Ruble. He was born March 22, 1918, in Bismarck.

On December 26, 1959, in Bismarck, Bill was united in marriage to Linnie M. Ruble who preceded him in death on August 22, 1996.

Bill is survived by one daughter, Kathy Ruble of Baltimore, MD; one brother, David and wife Anna Ruble of Chicago, IL; one sister, Jeanne Dalan of Fairview Heights, IL; and a special friend, Janice Grow of Kirksville, MO.

Mr. Ruble was raised in Bismarck, MO, where he was a graduate of Bismarck High School. He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, receiving his Master’s Degree in accounting before returning to Bismarck where he worked in his family-owned lumber business (Ozark Oak Flooring) for 20 years. In 1979, Bill moved to Kirksville, MO and served on the Faculty of the Division of Business and Accountancy at Truman State University until his retirement in 1995.

Bill was a member of Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity, was the first director of the Small Business Development Center, and served as a board member of the Adair County Public Library.

It was Bill’s wish to be cremated and a memorial service in his memory will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2005, in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Chaplain Norm Snowbarger officiating. Family will receive friends in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home one hour prior to the memorial service. His family will also receive friends on Thursday, July 14, 2005, from 5-7 p.m. at Shipman Funeral Home in Bismarck, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Adair County Public Library.
