Jerry Taylor

TERRE DU LAC – Gerald “Jerry” Monroe Taylor of Terre Du Lac passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at his residence at the age of 71 years. He was born June 12, 1934, in Hurst, MO to the late Earl and Mabel Taylor (nee Davis). One son, Thomas Kater, one sister, Carol Anderson, one brother, Merle Taylor, and two sister-in-laws, Wanda and Eleanor Taylor, preceded him in death.

Jerry served his country proudly in the US Air Force and the US Army. He received his BA in English from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, employed by the Federal Government as a Computer Programmer, served on the Montgomery Police Dept. as Sergeant for six years, a Substitute Teacher in History, Science and Geography for the North Co. School District, an author of published poetry, he wrote numerous wildlife articles for the TDL Lifestyle newspaper, and was a member of the NRA and Gun Muzzleloading Association. Jerry was an avid historian, enjoyed geography, golfing, boxing, trap and skeet and wildlife.

He is survived by his partner in life, Charlotte “Jessie” Arcand of Terre Du Lac, his children, Diana, Robin and Joellen Taylor, Sharon (Tom) St. Gemme and David (Melanie) Kater, all of Desloge, grandchildren Kristine and Makenzie St. Gemme and Dylan and Landon Kater, numerous great-grandchildren, two brothers Earl Taylor of Elk Creek, MO and William Taylor of St. Louis. Nieces and Nephews, Joe Taylor, Elaine Ode and Sherry (Gary) Black. He is also survived by cousins, many dear friends and his feline family.

Private services will be held. Family would appreciate memorials be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Bonne Terre, Hospice Care, Inc. or the American Cancer Society. Family served by Shearin Funeral Home, Bonne Terre.
