Farmington registration begins Aug. 4

Registration for Farmington students begins Aug. 4 for the 2005-2006 school year that starts on Aug. 25.

Any student who is entering the district for the first time, all kindergarten students and any returning student entering grades 7-12 should register.

Also on Aug. 4, physicals will be held at 6 p.m. at Farmington High school for high school or middle school students athletes who intend to participate in sports throughout the year.

New students to the district should provide a current immunization record that shows immunizations are up-to-date, a social security card, and proof of residency such as a property tax statement, rental agreement, utility or telephone bill. Students who have not had all the necessary immunizations may not enroll.

Kindergarten students must provide a birth certificate and must be five years old before Aug. 1 in order to enroll. All kindergarten students should register at Truman Kindergarten Center from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4.

Elementary students do not have to register if they are returning to the same school. New students and those who have moved within the district and will attend a different school should attend registration from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4 in their respective new schools: Jefferson Elementary (grades 1-4), Roosevelt Elementary (grades 1-4), Washington-Franklin Elementary (grades 1-4) and Lincoln Intermediate Center (grades 5-6).

The district in early August will mail class schedules to fifth- and sixth-grader students and will send locker assignments to sixth-graders.

All returning students in grades 7-12 must register at the middle school. Schedules and locker assignments will be distributed during registration. New middle school students should make an appointment to register by calling 701-1330.

Registration at the middle school is from noon to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 for 8th grade and on Aug. 12 for 7th grade.

High school students who are new to the district should call 701-1316, ext. 118 beginning Aug. 4 to make a registration appointment.

Registration for students who already are enrolled in the district will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following days: Aug. 9 – 12th grade ; Aug. 10 – 11th grade ; Aug. 11- 10th grade; and Aug. 12 – 9th grade. Students will receive schedules and locker assignments during registration.

Also, photos for ID badges for middle and high school students will be taken during registration.

The district plans to send letters home to parents of girls and boys in grades 9-12 regarding a sharing of information provision under the “No Child Left Behind” legislation. The provision requires schools to provide to the military the district’s directory of information for every high school student.

Parents who do not want their child’s information provided to the military may request that the school district keep that information confidential.

Before school officially opens, the district will hold an Open House in each school.

The high school and middle school events will be from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 22. The Aug. 23 Open House for the elementary buildings (K-6) will be from 6-8 p.m. and the W.L. Johns Early Childhood Center open house will be held from 5-7 p.m.

For more information about registration or Open House, contact the respective school or call the superintendent’s office at 701-1300.
