Police: Two men confess to burglary on Murrill street

BONNE TERRE – Two men have confessed to a burglary that occurred on Murrill Street in Bonne Terre last month.

Police Chief Doug Calvert said they learned from an informant that items that were stolen from the residence on July 28 were at another residence in the city. The items included a pellet gun, a computer and a printer.

Calvert said officers went to the residence and were allowed inside. He said they found the pellet gun that had been stolen.

Officers also found a 21-year-old Bonne Terre man hiding in a back closet in the basement and a small amount of marijuana and a substance believed to be heroin. The man said the drugs were his.

Calvert said the 21-year-old man and another Bonne Terre man there confessed to the burglary.

Calvert said the department is investigating several other burglaries, but this is the only burglary they can tie these two men to.

The drugs that were found will be sent to the crime lab for testing.

Charges have not yet been filed and both men were released from police custody. Their names are not being released at this time.
