John Compton Sr.

DESLOGE – John F. Compton Sr., 82, of Desloge, MO passed away August 28, 2005 at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington. He was born May 26, 1923 in Bonne Terre.

He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII serving in France and Germany; member and deacon of Cantwell First Baptist Church; past advisor Rainbow Assembly for Girls #111 of Desloge; Past Master of Elvins Ionic #154 AF & AM; 50 year pin recipient; Eastern Star Past Worthy Patron Mineral Area Chapter #260; White Shrine Samaritan Chapter #24; 32 Degree Mason; member of Leadington VFW 5741.

Preceded in death by Parents, Lytle and Lee (Wideman) Compton; Wife of 52 years, Delores (Johnson) Compton; 3 Sisters, Helen Rayfield, Virginia Roberson, Antelo Harris.

Survived by Son, John F. Compton Jr. of Desloge; Daughter, Betty (Mrs. Marvin Horton) of Desloge; 2 Grandchildren, Ted Horton and wife Michelle of St. Louis, Aaron Horton and wife Alison of Australia; 2 Great-grandchildren, Garrett and Tyler Horton.

Visitation Wednesday at 5 p.m. at C Z Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Eastern Star Services at 7 p.m. with Masonic Services following. Services Thursday at 11 a.m. at C Z Boyer & Son Chapel in Desloge with Rev. Kennard Mayfield and Rev. Edwin Hunter. Interment at St. Francois Memorial Park.
