Farmington 3, Windsor 0

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Knights took their time in grabbing their first win in Tuesday’s first game of the season The Knights did not score in the first half of their game with the Windsor Owls, but better than that the Owls didn’t score at all. Farmington did, in fact, they did three times for a 3-0 shut-out.

“Our defense did a great job in holding them to only seven shots on goal,” said Farmington coach Rusty Sancegraw. “We made some adjustments in the second half on offense by working the ball more in the middle and not so much on the outside.”

The results were two quick scores by the Knights, both by Ross Wulfert. Wulfert made both goals on assists by Lucas Vogelsang. Farmington’s third goal came somewhat later on a shot by Brad Green from a ball passed to him by Matt Rhodes.

Jordan Pannett had to only turn back seven shots by the Owls, one of which was a goal kick after a penalty in the crease on the Knights in the second half.

“We had tons of opportunities in the first half, but we couldn’t capitalize on them,” said Sancegraw in defining 23 shots on goal by the Knights in the game.

The win was part of Farmington’s two-day tournament, which concludes today. In the other game Hillsboro defeated Fredericktown 3-1. Farmington will play Hillsboro in today’s championship game. Fredericktown will play Windsor to see which team will get third place.
