June Sparks

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Mrs. Veva June ‘Rapp’ Sparks, 84, of Las Cruces, formerly of Flat River, entered eternal life on Aug. 23, 2005, at the Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, after a 2-year battle with cancer. June was born on June 26, 1921, in Flat River, MO., to Charles and Dorothy ‘Brown’ Rapp. She was married to Murphy L. Sparks in 1944 & together they owned and operated Sparks Funeral Home in Flat River, for many years. In 1983, she moved to El Paso, Texas, to be near her daughter and in 1996, they moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico.

June was an active member of the Taylor Avenue Methodist Church during the time she was in Missouri, and later joined the Trinity Methodist Church in El Paso, Texas. She was a member of: * Beta Sigma Phi; * Business & Professional Women’s Club; * Eastern Star; * Royal Neighbors; * The American Cancer Society; * and The Flat River Garden Club.

June expressed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and looked forward to joining her loved ones in Heaven. She was preceded-in-death by her husband and parents.

June is survived by: two Daughters and their spouses: Al and Marcia Sago, of Florence, AL; Paul Dean and Diana Glenn of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Her surviving Grandchildren and spouses are: Darrin and Devin Glenn, of Austin, Texas; Brett and Joni Sago, of Kingsport, Tennessee; Jason and Stacy Hopkins, of Frisco, Texas; Brandon and Anamaria Glenn, of Las Vegas, New Mexico. She also leaves 5 adored Great-Grandchildren: Faith and Taton Hopkins; Isavel and Ashley Glenn; Anna Paige Sago. June is survived by Brothers and Sisters-In-Law: Robert and Martha Rapp, of Farmington; Glen and Wilma Rapp, of Rock Hill, South Carolina; Frieda Moyer, of Kansas City, Missouri; Helen Sparks, of Farmington; Paula Sparks, of St. Louis; Sophia Sparks, of Bonne Terre; Patricia Adams and Brother-In-Law, Bud, of Park Hills. Also surviving are many dear Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Saturday, September 3rd, 4-9 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Service, Inc., Farmington.

Visitation resumes Sunday morning, 7 a.m. and funeral Sunday, September 4, 2005, 2 p.m., at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Phil Vaughn officiating. Interment follows in St. Francois Memorial Park Cemetery, rural Bonne Terre. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: The Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 E.
