Man found beaten in roadway

FARMINGTON – Investigators are trying to figure out who beat up a Bismarck man and left him partially in the roadway Friday morning.

St. Francois County Sheriff Dan Bullock said a passerby apparently found the 39-year-old man partially in the roadway on Fredericktown Road. The man’s name is not being released.

The man, who had severe trauma to his head, was taken to Mineral Area Regional Medical Center and then to a hospital in St. Louis where he is in serious condition.

“So far, we have not been able to speak to him,” Bullock said. “He’s from Bismarck… I don’t know what he was doing down there.”

Bullock said they do not know who beat up the man. He said family members said the man went to work like normal and then got sick and left work early.

“Nobody seems to know anything at this point,” he said.
