Bismarck gets home improvement grants to help residents improve houses

BISMARCK – Residents will have a chance to apply for home improvement money at a public meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 4.

The meeting will allow residents who live in the grant’s target area an opportunity to get more information about the program and to make application for home improvement projects.

Residents who have expressed an interest in the Neighborhood Development Program should also attend the meeting to fill out the necessary application.

Home improvement services will be first-come, first-serve, so participants will want to sign up early.

Residents who take part in the process must attend an education seminar prior to renovation of their homes. Once residents have completed an application and have attended the education seminar, a housing inspector will visit their residence and document those rehabilitation services requested by participants.

The Bismarck Board of Aldermen recently discussed implementation of the Community Development Block Grant at a meeting Monday. The grant was awarded to Bismarck from the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
