Knightettes avoid letdown to capture conference title

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Farmington softball team picked up the remaining win that it needed to wrap up the MAAA regular-season softball championship on Friday against the same team that denied them of it one year ago. Farmington dominated Ste. Genevieve for an 11-1 victory in five innings.

The Knightettes played solid offense and defense against Ste. Genevieve, giving up just one run in the fourth inning. Farmington spread its scoring out with three runs in the first and fifth frames, a pair of tallies in the second and fourth frames, and one more in the third inning. Farmington racked up 15 hits compared to the Hunters’ four.

Natalie Sago had a perfect day at the plate as she finished 4-4 and Molly Currington went 3-4. Sonya Galloway had a pair of base hits with a double and Erica Fitzgerald and Erica Sherrill each added two singles. Marisa Hoehn tripled and Megan Brann contributed a single.
