If you don’t like the weather, just wait

PARK HILLS – The old saying about Missouri weather is if you don’t like it, wait a minute and it will change. The saying is going to hold true as temperatures today will hover in the 80s while temperatures on Thursday are forecasted to plummet nearly 20 degrees.

“We are going to have a pretty good cold front coming through the area,” said Dale Bechtoll, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “Along with the cooler temperatures we should see some precipitation during the evening hours tonight.”

Bechtoll said the rain will start after 5 p.m.

“There could be some thunderstorms also associated with the front,” Bechtoll said. “At around midnight the winds will shift to the northwest and will become stronger. This will cause temperatures to be 20-25 degrees cooler on Thursday than they are today.”

Bechtoll said to expect temperatures in the lower 60s on Thursday with an overnight low near 40 degrees.

“It should be the coolest temperatures of the season thus far,” Bechtoll said. “Temperatures will begin warming up on Friday and will be back in the mid-70s by Sunday.”

Bechtoll said the Parkland could receive as much as a half an inch of rain tonight.

“We are forecasting severe weather for St. Francois County,” Bechtoll said.
