Farmington Couple to Describe Saudi Arabian Living

Byron and Katy Taylor of Farmington lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for 25 years. At 7 p.m. Thursday, the couple will give a free lecture at Mineral Area College.

&#8220Observations from Saudi Arabia” will be in the MAC theatre. Arabian coffee and dates will be served before the lecture.

Taylor was 25 years old when he found his job working as an entry-level engineer for ARAMCO, a Saudi Arabian Oil Company that produces, manufactures, markets and ships crude oil, natural gas and petroleum products worldwide.

The culture, language and alphabet were completely alien to a man who had grown up in Desloge. But during the course of the next 25 years the Taylors went 4-wheeling in the desert, watched transportation evolve from donkey carts to BMWs and met bedouins, nomads whose lifestyle is to travel from place to place in the Saudi desert.

The Taylors lecture is sponsored by Mineral Area Council on the Arts.
