Fire marshal investigating fire at Lake Lacawana

The cause of a fire that totaled a house Monday evening at Lake Lacawana is under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office. Firefighters were dispatched to the blaze at 7:56 p.m.

&#8220No one was home at the time of the fire,” said Big River Fire Chief David Pratte. &#8220The neighbors actually reported it. When we got on the scene we encountered a working fire with flames coming through the roof.”

Pratte said in addition to his department, De Soto Rural and Lake Timberline participated in the initial attack on the fire.

&#8220We had it under control within 20 minutes,” Pratte said. &#8220The Desloge Fire Department was called in for additional manpower. I am estimating that the one-story home is a total loss. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this point. We believe the fire started in the rear of the home.”

Pratte said no one was injured as a result of the fire. The home was located at 9913 Woodland Drive.
