Joseph Braun

FARMINGTON – Joseph Aimee Braun of Farmington passed away on December 3, 2005 at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center at the age of 69 years. He was born on June 10, 1936, in East St. Louis, IL, the son of the late Joseph H. and Alda (Hensley) Braun.

Mr. Braun served his country with the Strategic Air Command in the U.S. Air Force. He was an electrical engineer for Collins Radio and later owned and operated a custom sign business for many years. Mr. Braun was an avid member of the National Rifle Association.

Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed the simple things in life, including telling a good joke, camping, fishing and exploring new places. He was a Christian and found great comfort in knowing where he would be at life’s end.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Schirmer) Braun, a son, Joseph A. Braun II and wife Laurie of Park Hills, a daughter, Teri Castleberry of Ocoee, FL, two brothers, Allyn Braun of Morrisonville, IL, and Steven Braun of Anna, IL, three sisters, Lois Storment, of Van Alstyne, TX, Christie Hickson, of Dallas, TX, and Gaelynn Varney of Aurora, CO, three grandsons, Jeremy Castleberry and wife Rachel, Michael Braun and William Ames III, two granddaughters, Lauren Braun and Katie Ames and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Castleberry. Several cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.

Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2005. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 7:30 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jacob Pollard officiating. Burial will be at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
