Girls Large-School teams pile up wins on Thursday

FESTUS – The Farmington Knightettes worked out some kinks in their game on Thursday against the Festus Lady Tigers, just in time for the Holiday Classic they will play in starting Tuesday where they hold the No. 2 seed. Farmington won a 64-32 victory over Festus.

Briley Milfeld hit three three-pointers to lead the team in scoring with 15 points, and Natalie Sago made two three-pointers as Farmington’s perimeter shooting came to life. The Knightettes took care of the basketball, having only nine turnovers in the game.

Farmington, 5-2, will play Cape Central on Tuesday in the first round of the Saint Francis Holiday Classic held in Cape Girardeau’s Show-Me Center.

Potosi 54, Herculaneum 39

HERCULANEUM – The Potosi Lady Trojans looked good on offense Thursday which pleased their coach and got them a 54-39 win over Herculaneum.

&#8220We shot the ball better tonight that we ever have before,” said Potosi coach Matt Bradley.

Emily Morgan found her range with three three-pointers for 17 points to lead the team. Liz Stewart scored 15 points for the Lady Trojans.

Potosi, 3-3, will play the first game of a doubleheader with the boys at Valley for rights to the ‘Hog Trophy’.

Ste. Genevieve 60, Crystal City 38

CRYSTAL CITY –

The Ste. Genevieve Hunters improved their record to 6-1 on Thursday with a 60-38 winner over their host, the Crystal City Lady Owls.

&#8220This has been the best start for girls teams here at Ste. Genevieve,” said Coach Mark Vogt of their season record.

Leading by only 12 points, the Hunters scored 24 points in the fourth quarter. Lindsey Rhodes led the team in scoring with 20 points.

Ste. Genevieve will be at Hillsboro on Monday for their next non-conference game.

Fredericktown 69, St. Vincent 37

PERRYVILLE – The St. Vincent Lady Indians played with undefeated Fredericktown for at last one quarter, but that was all as the Lady Cats took off from there for a 69-37 win, leaving the Lady Indians in their dust.

&#8220We changed our press up and gave them different looks at our defense,” said Fredericktown coach Lonny Sheldon.

Amy Hendrix led the team with six steals and 15 points. Betsy Royer scored nearly a triple-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocked shots. Johnna Tinnin pulled down six rebounds.

Fredericktown, 7-0, will face Green County Tech (5-1) from Arkansas on Saturday at Mineral Area College as part of a doubleheader with the Lady Cardinals starting at 5 p.m. Admission is one can of food for a food pantry.

Sullivan 61, North County 19

SULLIVAN – Sullivan retained their undefeated season (8-0) so far with a 61-19 win over the North County Lady Raiders on Thursday. North County, missing players to injuries, was unable to move the ball well against Sullivan’s stingy defense. Kadie Pilliard led North County in scoring with eight points.
