Leon Campbell

MARBLE HILL – Leon Junior Campbell, 79, of Marble Hill, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at his residence. He was born March 3, 1926 at Park Hills, the son of William Preston and Edith Hart Campbell. He and Ruby Duncan were married December 18, 1948 in Patton at the Patton Presbyterian Church.

Mr Campbell worked for the Doe Run Mining Company for several years, and was a member of the Point Pleasant General Baptist Church.

He served his country proudly during WW II in the 42 Rainbow Division were he earned a Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby; one son, Michael Wiliam Campbell, Glen Allen; two daughters: Sherry Green, Marble Hill; Carol Rhodes, Cape Girardeau; one brother, James Campbell, Park Hills; one sister, Leona Sherman, Bellville, Il; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles; two sisters: Irene Meador; Geraldine Gerstenschlager.

Visitation: Friday, December 16, 2006 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral service: Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Gene Robbins and Rev. Bud Armstrong officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the Missouri Honor Guard.
