Betty Jean Meyers

Betty Jean Meyers of Jackson, formerly Bonne Terre, was called to her heavenly home Thursday, December 16, 2005, at the age of 70.

Betty was born August 12, 1935 in Farmington, the daughter of Frank J. Sr. and Mildred E. (McCallister) McDowell. She was married to Donald L. Meyers August 18, 1952.

Her home church was Marvin Chapel Methodist Church and was currently a member of Zion United Methodist Church of Gordonville. Betty seemed to find a special place in the hearts of all who knew her. She was admired for her spirituality, dedication, hard work attitude and her strong focus on family.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Thomas W. McDowell and Loraine Bailey and her grandson Chad Birk.

Her loving survivors include: husband Donald L. Meyers of Jackson; son Dennis L. Meyers and wife Launa Rae of Bailey, CO; daughter, Donna J. Birk of Jackson, MO; grandchildren, Josh and Clay Birk, Denny Jr. and Bridgett Meyers; brothers, Frank J. McDowell Jr. and wife Marilyn of League City, TX and Paul L. McDowell Sr. and wife Leona of Bonne Terre, MO. Many very special nieces, nephews and close friends also survive.

Visitation and viewing will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2005. The visitation will resume on Tuesday at Marvin Chapel Methodist Church and the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the church.

Betty’s family invites everyone to celebrate her life and to rejoice that she will forever be in peace with her heavenly Father.
