Spring Continuing Education Classes Set at MAC

A new lineup of spring continuing education classes has been scheduled at Mineral Area College. These inexpensive, no-credit classes are set up by Director Linda Bodine, who handles scheduling and enrollment for the continuing ed classes. To enroll or find out more, call Bodine at 518-1330.

The classes for the spring semester include:

Delectable Mountains Quilt Top: Have fun with this amazing technique and make easy work of this treasured pattern. Easy stitching creates a beautiful mountain pattern. This six-week class will begin Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Cost of the class is $45.

Country Line Dance: In this beginner’s class, learn to slap leather, kick, sidestep and all the other steps to an exciting evening of fun. This eight-week class will begin Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m. Cost of the class is $45.

Beginning Cake Decorating : This four-week class will teach the foundations of cake decorating. Participants will learn leveling, smoothing, trims and simple flowers. Classes will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays beginning Jan. 16. Cost of the class is $45.

Ballroom Dance: A beginner’s class, participants will learn the social dances played at most receptions and social events. The eight-week class will be held on Thursdays, beginning Feb. 2, at 6:30 p.m. Cost of the class is $45.

Intermediate Cake Decorating: Participants of this four-week class will learn the basket weave, roses, pansies and leaves. Various edgings and trims will also be taught. Classes will meet on Mondays beginning Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. Beginning Cake Decorating is required before taking this class. Cost of the class is $45.

Beginning Genealogy: This eight-week class is for anyone interested in learning more about their family’s history. Designed for those new to genealogy, the class will provide students with the basic skills necessary to conduct successful genealogical research. The class will begin Monday, Feb. 20, at 6:30 p.m. Cost of the class is $45.

Quilt As You Go: Participants will learn the technique of piecing, batting and backing in one process. Quilting each block as it is pieced, the blocks are connected for a finished project. The six-week class will begin Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. Cost of the class is $45.

Cake Decorating 3: The Intermediate class is required before taking this class. Participants will learn poinsettias, violets, vines, and rolled fondants. The four-week class will be held on Mondays, beginning March 13, at 6:30 p.m. Cost of the class is $45.

Swing Dance: Aaron Gamble will teach an eight-week basic Swing Dance class beginning Thursday, April 6, at 6:30 p.m. Cost of the class is $45 per person.
