Baseball Sign-Ups
It’s that time again for baseball and softball teams and leagues to begin preparation for the upcoming summer season. Teams and leagues wishing to give notice in the Daily Journal of sign-up or try-out dates should either call 431-2010, ext. 3 or FAX to 431-7640 and deliver the following information to the Daily Journal office: the team or league name, age of players, the time, date and place, and who to contact for further information. If room permits, the notice will run each day unil the date of the event, but no more than two weeks prior.
Events will be placed in two caegories: 1. Community and other leagues, and 2. Mineral Area Baseball Association (MABA) sign-ups.
MABA sign-ups will be divided into their separate leagues. The leagues and ages of players are Senior Babe Ruth League (16-19), 16 Year Old League, Junior Babe Ruth League (13-15), 13 Year Old League, Cal Ripken League (10-12), Cal Ripken Minor (10), and Bantam League (7-9).
COMMUNITY AND OTHER LEAGUES
Bonne Terre Leagues – March 21
The Bonne Terre Baseball Association, Inc. is currently registering players for this summer’s baseball and softball leagues for boys and girls, ages 4-18. Registration forms are available at the Bonne Terre City Hall, and for more information call Shawn Kay at 358-8895.
Summer Softball – March 31
Teams wishing to play in the Park Hills summer softball leagues may register until end 5 p.m. on March 31 (or when league is full) at the park Hills City Hall on 9 Bennett St. The leagues offered are: Monday and Wednesday Men’s League (12 teams) – $260, and Friday Church League (10 teams) -$190. Teams hit their own softballs, with one dozen provided. Call the Parks Department at 431-0478 for additional information.
Merchants League – March 31
Applications for the Farmington Merchants League are due by March 31 for boys and girls, grades K-6, wishing to play softball or baseball this summer. Applications were distributed in the Farmington schools and must be returned completed and signed. Volunteer coaches are also needed, and parents can designate so on the application. Girls Softball – April 4
An organizational meeting for girls softball managers will be held on April 4 at 7 p.m. in the Sports Complex horseshoe building. Leagues offered are: Juniors-12 and under, 15-under fast pitch, and 18-under fast pitch. Call the Parks Department at 431-0478 for any additional information.
Farmington Softball – April 3-6
Registration is now ongoing for adult slow-pitch softball leagues in Farmington. Teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis with the leagues limited to 12 teams in the Men’s, Church and Co-Ed divisions, and eight in the Women’s division. The last day of registration for all paperwork to be turned in is Men’s League – April 3, Church League – April 4, Women’s League – April 5, and Co-Ed League – April 6.

Baseball Tourney – April 8-9
The North County Senior Babe Ruth Program will be hosting a Bantam and Cal Ripken League Pre-season Tournament on April 8-9 at Brightwell Park in Desloge. For more information or to sign your team up call Matt Branon at 747-5860 or Bob Simily at 631-0824.

BANTAM (7-9 yr. olds)
Outlaws – March 14
The Farmington Outlaws will hold try-outs on March 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Farmington High School gym. If any questions call Scott Winder at 760-1988.
Stars – March 14 & 16
The Bismarck Stars will be holding try-outs on March 14 and March 16 from 5:30- 7:00 p.m. at the Bismarck High School baseball field. Players must attend both try-outs. For further information contact Marshall Latham at 734-1149 or Chuck Fisher at 734-2048.
Mustangs – March 15-16
The Farmington Mustangs will be holding try-outs on March 15-16 at the Farmington Middle School gym from 5:15-7:00 p.m. For more information contact John England at 760-0473.

Broncos – March 16
