MABA and Legion weekend baseball
PERRYVILLE – The Farmington Post 416 Patriots continued their excellent pitching with a one-hitter, fielding with no errors and hitting with 11 hits for a 10-0 eight-inning win over the Perryville American Legion team on Saturday. Mark Lupkey pitched the entire eight innings and struck out 11 batters, walking none and hitting one batter to go along with Perryville’s one hit. The game marked the fourth time the team was errorless.
The Patriots (5-0) led by only a run after four innings, but they exploded for four runs in the fifth and again in the eighth. Matt Usherwood had a single and a double with 3 RBI, and Taylor Fall and Josh Boyer had two singles each. Ryan Blankenship hit a double, and Jimmy Thompson, Josh Taylor, Cody Rodgers, Eric Koppeis, Nick Eckl had one single apiece.
Blue Jays 16, Raiders 6
Blue Jays 10, Astros 0
DESLOGE – The Farmington Blue Jays pulled themselves into a tie for first place in the MABA 13-Year Old League with the Park Hills Astros after their second week of games on Saturday. Playing a round-robin doubleheader, the Blue Jays won both of their games in five innings each defeating the Bonne Terre Raiders first by a score of 16-6 and then beating the Astros 10-0.
In the first game Rusty Allgier was the winning pitcher with reliever Phillip Kreitler preserving the win and the duo allowed only four hits by the Raiders. In the second game Kreitler threw a no-hitter, striking out six batters for the win.
Hitting well for the Blue Jays were Logan Bradley 5-6, Kreitler 5-7 with two doubles, and Pete Grindel 4-7 with two doubles . Zach Hibbitts was 3-3 in the first game and Colby Yordy was 3-3 with a double in the second game. Allgier had a double and a triple, Drew Winder and Taylor Sohn had one double each, and Riley Baumgardner hit one single. Ryan Gibson hit a double for Bonne Terre.
Lancers 12, Expos 6
FARMINGTON – The Farmington Lancers won both ends of their Cal Ripken Minor League doubleheader over the Park Hills Expos on Saturday with the second game ending up 12-6. Kaylon Bryant had a double in the first game which was first reported as a single. (See first game in Sunday’s Daily Journal.) Logan England was the winning pitcher in the second game with Evan Dunivan and Grant Hopkins finishing out the last two innings in relief.
The Lancers had to come from behind to get the win. The Expos scored five runs in the first and one in the second to hold the lead for the first three innings. England shut the Expos down and was rewarded with three runs in the fourth and five in the fifth as the Lancers got their bats going.
Ethan Grimes hit two singles and a triple, Hopkins hit three singles, England had two, and Justin Boehm had one. Lane Huff hit a double for the Expos, and Anthony Quinton, Hunter Courtois, Isaak Vinson, Nate Rawlins, and Gabe Craig all hit one single each.
Raiders 10, Broncos 0
Raiders 19, Broncos 4
BONNE TERRE – The Bonne Terre Raiders (6-0) won their Cal Ripken Minor League doubleheader over the Farmington Broncos, 10-0 and 19-4. In the first game Wyatt Compton pitched a no-hitter. Patrick Mahurin and Eric Decker had two hits each, and Levi Spray and Daniel Sadler had one hit each.
In the second game Spray was the winning pitcher and also had two hits at the plate. Clayton Loughary and Jake Harris had two hits each. The Broncos two hits were by Evan Thurman and Alex Conway.
Outlaws 13, BlueJays 0
DOE RUN – The Farmington Outlaws hit three home runs against the Doe Run BlueJays for a 13-0 Bantam League win. Logan Winder hit a single and a grand slam, and Nick Bertram and Aaron Hargiss hit the other two home runs. Coby Moon hit a triple, Lance Johnson a double, and Brandon Winder and Trevor Keith had one single each. Hargiss and Moon combined to pitch a one hitter.
