Nine and 12 year olds claim state titles

BOONVILLE — The MABA nine-year old All-Stars won their first state championship on Sunday being it was the first MABA nine-year-old team to play in a state tournament. The All-Stars received a dynamic performance by pitcher Jordan Ankrom with a 5-1 no-hitter. Ankrom struck out eight batters and walked two in going the distance.

Pierce Daniels, Coby Eckhoff and Ankrom led the team in hitting with two singles each. Dylan Coleman hit one double, and Brayden Manion and Connor Forsythe had one single each for the All-Stars.

The All-Stars will play next in the Regional Game also to be held at Boonville to be announced in the next week.

12 YEAR OLDS

MABA 4, Kennett 1

KENNETT — The MABA 12-year-ods All-Stars beat the host team Kennett for the second day in a row to win the state championship on Sunday by a score of 4-1. The All-Stars as a group have won three straight titles. MABA has won the 10, 11 and 12 year old championships over the past three years which has never been done before in Missouri.

The win came by way of he long ball. In the third inning a single by Nathan Wulfert was backed up by back-to-back home runs by Connor Davault and Brandon Kearns. In the fifth inning, the All-Stars would score again, with a single by Wulfert and a RBI double by Davault. Kennett scored their lone run in the bottom of the sixth.

Davault was 3-3 with a home run and three RBI. Kearns was also 3-3 and Wulfert was 2-3. Garrett Manion, who had pitched the win, striking out six batters and giving up five hits, hit a double and Jesse Waters was 1-1 with a single.

The All-Stars will play in the Regional Tournament to be held in Alliance, North Dakota starting on July 26.
