Farmington plans to appoint Bullis new mayor

Farmington City Council has announced its plan to appoint Jim Bullis to the position of Mayor through April.

The Council plans to vote on his appointment during their regular monthly meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday in City Council chambers at Farmington City Hall, 110 W. Columbia Street.

Bullis would fill the position created Aug. 8 when voters recalled Mayor Charles Rorex during a special election. He would serve until the April election, when voters will choose someone to fill the remaining two years of Rorex’s term.

Councilman Larry Forsythe currently serves as mayor pro-tem in Rorex’s absence.

Bullis served on the Council from April 2002 through April 2006, and from 1981 through 1985. The retired dean of arts and science for Mineral Area College (MAC), Bullis currently serves on the MAC Board of Trustees.
