Jack (Donald Gene) Laird

LAND O’LAKES, Fla. – Jack Laird (born Donald Gene) passed away in his home in Land o’ Lakes, Florida, October 26, 2006 surrounded by his family. Jack was born August 6, 1924 in Elvins, Missouri. While in veterinarian school he was drafted into the Army, where he served for 25 years. He later graduated from Jackson School of Law in Mississippi. Jack fought in World War II, Korea twice, and Viet Nam. After working for the Veterans Administration in St Louis, Jack retired in Land o’ Lakes, Florida, in 1976 and he and Rief (Edna Rieffer from Caledonia), his wife of 55 years, became REALTORS®. Jack, the 10th of 11 children, is survived by his daughters Laura Causey, Susanna (Mrs. Andrew Polk) Madden, Bobbi (Mrs. Gary) Hampel, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and brothers Richard and David. At Rief’s deathbed, Jack’s last words were: &#8220Walk slowly, Honey, and I’ll catch up.” Jack finally caught up, and they now reside in their Heavenly Home.
