Health center holds flu shot clinic Friday
PARK HILLS – It’s that time of year again. It’s time to get those flu shots. The St. Francois County Health Center has announced that it will be having a flu shot clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday at the First Baptist Church in Desloge. The church is located on Harding Street behind the C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home.
The health department will bill Medicare for the shots or they are asking for a $20 donation for each vaccine.
&#8220This year the flu shots are available to anyone who is 6-months of age and older,” said St. Francois County Health Director Sharon Wallace. &#8220In previous years we have had to stipulate the shots only be given to people who fell into the high risk category. This year our supply is larger so we can give them out to anyone who wants one.”
In addition to the flu shot clinic, the county health department is also offering the Flu Mist vaccine on Mondays to anyone who is healthy between the ages of 5-49. The department is asking for a $20 donation for the Flu Mist. The health department is also giving pneumonia shots daily at a cost of $40 apiece.
