Hunters make gruesome discovery

CRAWFORD COUNTY – Hunters discovered remains of a human body on Nov. 18 in a wooded area in Crawford County. The hunters reported the findings to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to an isolated area in the far eastern part of Crawford County, where Crawford and Washington County join. The hunters led deputies to an area along a creek where the remains of the body were found.

The sheriff’s department secured the scene and searched for evidence. The evidence that was found was seized and taken to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department. The remains of the body were sent to the Crawford County Coroner and were transported to the medical examiner for identification. At this time authorities do not know the identity of the body.

The incident is currently under investigation by both the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department and the Crawford County Coroner’s Department.
