Marquand C.R.O.P. report

The Marquand area Citizens Realizing Our Potential group met at the Community Center Thursday evening at 7 P.M. for the first meeting of the year. If you have been in town recently you can tell there is a lot going on. The Homan Hall restoration is nearing complete restoration. The upstairs has been completed and is being utilized. C.R.O.P. hosted a Home Town Christmas there in December. This is planned to be an annual event. Aunt Kay’s antique shop is up and running. Hopefully more booths and spaces will be filled soon. Watch the local papers for upcoming openings and events. Anyone interested in booking entertainment needs to contact Tara (Mrs. Brad) Gipson. The Hall has a beautiful stage and can easily seat 150 or more persons. The new restaurant building is looking good. Watch for news of the opening. Plans are for a fine dining establishment offering great food in a comfortable setting. There are still some Marquand & Area history books available. You can pick one up at Marquand Market while grocery shopping or grabbing lunch; Kay’s Antiques while browsing her boutique; The Gallery where local artist work is displayed and Durso Hills Winery where you can tour and taste their local wine. A 2007 Town Talk will be coming out soon. If you would like to receive a copy, contact any of the shops mentioned above or any C.R.O.P. member. Remember the meetings are on the third Thursday each month at the Community Center in Marquand at 7 P.M. YOU are welcome and needed.
