Rebels pull out one-point win in OT, Indians say good-bye to old gym

IRONTON – The Central Rebels scored a lay-up just before the final buzzer in regulation for their first tie in the game since early in the first quarter, but in overtime the Rebels jumped out to the lead and the Arcadia Valley Tigers had to play catch-up for the first time. Central prevailed 66-65.

&#8220We just kept clawing and kept clawing our way back into it,” said Arcadia Valley coach Mike Key. &#8220We had our shot at the buzzer, a seven footer, but it didn’t go.”

Arcadia Valley led every quarter to start the last one ahead 42-37, but from there it became Central’s game to win, and they did.

Central (10-14) will host West County tonight in a doubleheader with the girls’ teams. Arcadia Valley (12-13) will play next at home on Thursday against Clearwater.

Bismarck 56, Oak Ridge 40

BISMARCK – &#8220It was an all-around good night, tonight,” said Bismarck coach Jamey Bell.

The Bismarck Indians celebrated ‘Senior Night’, and recorded a 56-40 win over Oak Ridge for the last varsity game to be played in their old gym. Bismarck is in the process of building a new gymnasium for next year’s basketball, and because of construction needs, Friday’s game was moved up to Thursday.

The Indians took off from the starting tip to hold a double-digit lead throughout the game. Seniors Tim Lincoln and Mike Franklin scored 19 and 12 points respectively to lead the Indians. Garrett Light led Oak Ridge with 14 points and Dustin Meyer scored 11.

Bismarck (7-14) will play at Viburnum on Tuesday.
